The main purpose of my remix project was to one, showcase my culture and two, show that Haiti isn't what people think it is because Haiti is beautiful. I want people to see the country as a whole, not what the news broadcasts. There is depreciation and misfortune in all countries so for Haiti to only be seen as a poor and a deprived country isn't fair to my people. Haiti has breath taking views, good food, a great community, fun events, and loving people. I found it hard to use the iMovie app because it was my first time using the software. I had to YouTube how use it and ask a friend for help. I played around with it for a couple days then finally understood what to do. For my first time using iMovie, I think I did pretty good. Within the video, I started off with the bad things going on in Haiti which are the earthquake from 2011 that still has an impact on the country today, the political standpoint, the Clinton's stealing $9.04 billion from the country, and violent protests. Then once the Haitian flag appears, it shows all the good things about the country; clear water, beautiful sites, happy people, food, and carnival. The most difficult part of my remix was the audio aspect. I wasn't able to get clear sounding music because iMovie wouldn't allow me to. To compromise, I recorded through voice memo and played the song through my phone. The song playing is called Ayiti Pap Kraze by T-Vice which translates to "Haiti won't break." I chose this song because people believe Haiti won't make it, they think just because bad things happen there, the country won't succeed. Haiti comes with a lot of issues but that doesn't mean we won't succeed in the long run. Haiti was the first black republic, we are strong and will forever be that way no matter what comes our way. Doing this project made me realize how much I love where I come from, the customs I follow, the food I eat, and the language I speak.
